It’s been awhile since I’ve updated the old blog so here
goes. Lennon is 7 ½ months old and he loves the life he lives. Some things he’s
been up to over the past month or so;
He’s been starting to do things that are actually deliberate.
Like making funny noises so we laugh & peeking his head around the corner
to play peek-a-boo. He thinks the most random things are funny; Dave running
down the stairs, lifting our phones over our eyes while taking a picture or
video, or kneeling down on the ground and waving “bye bye” while he’s in his
high chair.
Physically he continues to grow. His legs are like little
chubby stubs. They are so strong & if he doesn’t want to sit he’ll just
arch his back and make his legs straight and stiff. He gets up on all 4’s and
rocks and can scoot himself backwards, but no crawling yet. Bouncing is still
his favorite pastime. We brought out the Johnny Jump Up a few weeks ago and it
was a big hit. He also bounces when he hears music. He apparently likes to sing
songs at daycare; the other week his report sheet said, “Lennon loves when we
sing his name during the best friend song”. Whatever that is. I really need to
up my repertoire of crappy kid music.
I continue to be wrong about the teething as I still don’t
see anything coming through. This past weekend I could swear I saw two little
white dots, but then I looked again this morning and didn’t notice them. He
clamps his gums together a lot and will yell “dadadadadada”.
He is still eating about 25 oz. of formula a day and he eats
solids twice. He usually wakes once in the night for a bottle. He’s tried a big
variety of food at this point, but his favorites seem to be squash & any
fruit that’s not too sour, like bananas. His broccoli and carrot mixture had to
be diluted with oatmeal before he’d finish it the other night. Our newest
revelation is finger food. He loves puffs, chunks of banana & sweet
potatoes. I bought a $5.00 bag of yogurt melts that I’m trying to extend
because dang….$5.00 a bag? Over the past few days he’s started whining if we
are eating food that he can’t have.
He continues to wet through his diapers almost every night. Most
nights he goes to bed between 6:30-7:00. I’d like to push this a little later,
but he’s so exhausted after daycare. He gets up for a bottle around 11:00 then usually
sleeps until 6:00-6:30.
Speaking of daycare, he loves his friends there. When Dave drops him off in the morning he gets
a huge smile on his face. He doesn’t nap well because it’s pretty loud in his
room. Luckily when he moves on to the infant 2 room in a few months he’ll have
a more structured nap schedule.
Who needs Disney World when you have the grocery store? I
started letting him ride like a big boy in the cart and he thinks it’s the
coolest thing. Riding through the beverage aisle is like Toys ‘R Us.
Stroller rides are still a favorite. He lays back and yells
random gibberish as we stroll through the neighborhood. If we try to talk to
him or smile he’ll look away and ignore us. I guess this is his special “alone”
time.
He gets sleepy in the car & still does well for most of
the time. I’m finding that he’s pretty happy if we’re out and about. Anytime
we’re at a restaurant or store he’s pretty content looking around all of the
people and objects.
Baby boy has some serious stranger anxiety going on lately.
He’ll cry if anyone stops to say hello at the store or if anyone new comes into
his room at daycare. He’s been a stage 4 clinger to mom and dad lately…even
when we’re just home by ourselves. We’re working on this, but something tells
me it’s just a phase that he needs to get through himself.

Still hard to believe our newborn child is going to be 8 months in a few weeks! We love him and his little personality.
