A 7 week old Lennon

Lennon at 7 weeks....

He's been smiling and "cooing" more and more lately. Our happy hour is still in the morning after he's eaten & had a good poop. I sit him in his Boppy pillow and we "talk" to one another for a good half hour or so.

Speaking of poop, Lennon goes a lot. He's averaging at least one outfit change a day due to his bathroom etiquette....or lack there-of.

Still eating at least every 3 hours or more. At night he's pretty consistent with eating every 3, then settling nicely back to sleep. However, just when you think you have your kid figured out they throw you through a loop. Last night he got up almost every hour. Growth spurt again?

We won't officially weigh him until his 2 month appointment next week, but at home he's weighing in around 10 lbs. I think he looks so big and chubby, but I realize he's still a little peanut.

Lennon's fussy time is still going strong. Every evening it's like a switch turns on around 6-7 o'clock and he starts fussing. We try to dart it by making evening trips to the mall, or going for a walk but it usually just pushes the fussy period back. Can't trick a trickster. We have had the occasional evening where he's calm, so hopefully this means he's getting over this phase.

The little guy loves napping on anyone's chest. If the creepy neighbor next door came over and wanted Lennon to nap on him, he'd oblige. I started out worrying I was creating a bad habit, but I've gotten over it. It's just so sweet when they nuzzle in your neck. It also helps that he sleeps a lot longer this way ;).

And now a photo dump:

Creepily sleeping with one eye open. Can't sneak one past Lennon!

I love this picture because Lennon looks so angelic...but if you look close he's got a spot of poop on his left arm. Ha, I swear we're keeping it together around here.

I try to get pictures of him smiling...but all I get is big eyes and a comb-over.

Finally a smile while wearing the outfit uncle Ben came home in from the hospital 24 years ago. What can I say, Lennon likes vintage.

Mommy creating bad habits.                                    Classic fussy time pose.
Jordan wants nothing to do with his stinky little cousin, but some day they'll be bff's.

Lennon being doted on by grandma J & great great aunt Helen.

Happy 7 weeks little buddy! We love you more today than yesterday.

5 & 6 Weeks

Our little man will be 6 weeks old tomorrow! I'm sad and glad about this at the same time. Sad that he's no longer a newborn, but glad to see all the developments he's going through every day. Our "happy hour" is in the morning after a good stretch of sleep, a feeding and a poop. He sits on his Boppy Pillow and smiles & coos at us. It's so fun to hear his raspy little voice. It seems like every day he's making a new facial expression or sound. Sometimes he just stares right into my eyes and I wonder what he's thinking. Probably "this is the clown that's responsible for keeping me alive?....crap."

This past weekend Lennon got around town quite a bit. He got to experience Cheeky Monkey Deli on Friday night....we were on egg shells the whole time thinking he'd wake up crying, but he pulled through. Then lunch out with mom and dad on Saturday, a walk around Lake of the Isles (yes, it's mid April and there's still snow, barf) & a trip to our old grocery store in Uptown. He's becoming more alert these days and doesn't seem to sleep as much when we're out in the stroller. You wouldn't guess that from the below pictures...he must have known mom and dad needed some QT.

Now that Lennon's cord finally fell off....it took 4 and a half weeks, our favorite pastime is taking a bath. It's hard to get a good photo because he kicks & plashes the whole time. This has been our one saving grace in the evenings during the fussy hours.

It's amazing to look back at his newborn photos and to see how much he's changed already. I grow more in love with this little boy and his developing personality every day. Words to sum up Lennon at 6 weeks: Hungry, Noisy, Wiggly & Gassy.

Cheers!

Mr. Lennon

Our baby boy is 4 weeks old today! The time continues to fly by around here and I don't know where the hours go during the day. We've had a few rough nights in the sleep department, but for the most part Lennon is pretty consistent. He goes to bed around 10:30-11:00 & gets up every 3 hours to feed. During the day he takes shorter naps and likes to cluster feed. The kid seems to be hungry whenever he's awake...much like his parents.

Lennon loves to cuddle & be held. I sometimes have a hard time setting him down because he'd sleep for hours on my chest. So precious are these moments...

Since our fussy time is in the evenings we've been trying to get out of the house. Lennon loves a good stroller ride around the neighborhood. Mommy & daddy like a good beer, so we meshed the two together. You party how you can when you're a new parent...

I chuckle daily that I have a son. I just think Lennon is so "boy". His hands look like little bear claws to me. The other day I actually found dirt under his finger nails. How does a newborn get dirt in their nails? I suppose I need to start bathing him more regularly. Boys get into shenanigans ;)

Still not a fan of tummy time...

I'm getting more daring with my daily ventures. Today we went to Trader Joe's AND Acme Deli for lunch. Yes, that's two places in a row. I thought I might be pushing my limits, but the little guy slept for most of the time & when he was awake he just looked around. Poor kid is probably stir crazy since I've been hoarding him in the house for 3 weeks.

Even though he's been keeping us on our toes lately, we grow more in love with this little guy every week. Happy 4 weeks Lennon James!
