Hot to Trot
We’ve been doing what we can to dart the heat this week. Dipping in the kiddie pool, closing all of the shades in our house & maxing out our fans and ac units, to name a few. Lennon’s daycare has their yearly shut-down so he’s having a random week with kind relatives who’ve volunteered to help us out. Monday with Grandma Jay, Tuesday with Aunt Jill, Weds and Thursday with dad & mom and then Friday with Grandma Mary Jo and Grandpa Wyon. If things keep trending the way they have been, he’ll be calling the shots all week. Exhibit A: Hanging out in exersaucer with toys in both hands & nuk in mouth while watching cartoons.
Lennon’s favorite things this week are his chew toy strawberry & green sea turtle bath toy. He has way cooler toys than the turtle, but whenever I place them all in front of him, he goes for it. Simple Lennon, I guess.
Pool time! Mr. (or Mrs.) Sea Turtle joined in on the fun.
Lennon is afraid of my mom when she puts her bifocals on and this is the face he makes.
Riding around the neighborhood with Sophie…oh the life.
Finally settled at night…in mom and dad’s bed. Lennon wins again ;).
We were hoping to give Lennon his first State Fair experience this week, but the more I think about it, the more darting through crowds with an oversized stroller & a sweaty infant does not sound appealing. Maybe we’ll wait until next year when he can enjoy a cheese curd or two. Stay cool!

Our 5 Month Old
It has been a big month so far for Lennon. He had his first pony ride, learned how to use his
exersaucer, said good-bye to uncle Ben and started riding forward in his stroller. Lately he has been
trying to use his vocal cords a lot. He’ll yell and “talk” to himself in the car on his way to and from
daycare. I think he might be teething so I bought him one of those rubber strawberries that you stick food in and they chew on it. It might be his new favorite thing in the world...besides daddy. He still laughs hysterically when Dave does something funny, but only smiles if I make an attempt. Also, we can mark green beans as the first food he tried & doesn’t like. He gagged and almost threw up when we fed them to him. The kid is already complaining about my cooking. He's still getting about 30 oz of milk a day and we feed him solids around dinner time. At his last appointment he gained a little over a pound in a month and grew 1 inch....I think the solids are working.
Here's a very random photo dump of what be the haps with Lennon lately;
Since this photo was taken, Lennon no longer needs a book while bouncing around. He’s still pretty
much on his tippy toes, but it works… as long as his diaper isn’t too restricting.
My brother Ben moved to Hawaii for a year so we bid him farewell a couple of weekends ago. It was
a luau theme…hence the tattoo on Ben’s cheek ;). It’s hard to believe the next time he sees Lennon he’ll be walking & maybe even talking. Skype and Facetime are a must. We’ll miss you, uncle Ben!
This is the scene for nap time lately.
He loves this light that my grandma Molly gave him. It’s shaped like a frog and it sparkles and lights up. I got a whole load of laundry folded the other night just by placing it in front of him.
I hate to tell you this Lennon, but Jockeying might be the sport you’re best suited for.
All of these new activities must be throwing Lennon off as he’s had some rough nights in the sleep
department lately. That, or he’s just smart enough to realize its way more fun to sleep with mom & dad
than in his boring crib. We still love him, though.
We’ve sparked a new interest in the stroller just by facing Lennon forward. I guess he just wanted to be treated like the big kid that he is. We’ve even been able to trick him into falling asleep a couple times.
Cheers to our baby boy being 5 months old. We love you, sweetie pie.
