An 11 Month Recap

Where to begin on our 11 month old…

Likes: Riding in the stroller or his sled (despite the frigid weather), playing with books, getting into everything he’s not supposed to –cords & the remote control being favorites, hanging out in the cubby between our buffet and the wall in our dining room, opening and closing all of the doors in the house-bonus points if daddy is on the other side “surprising” him, jumping in his johnny jump up when mom and dad are cooking in the kitchen, peeking into the shower, pushing anything around the house-his activity table, our fan, floor lamps. He still loves eating, Elmo you-tube videos & anything obnoxious that we do to make him laugh.

Developmental milestones: Two bottom teeth, walking all over the place, is really starting to talk a lot and it sometimes sounds like he’s trying to have a conversation, waves, gives high fives and does “so big”, is starting to grow into and understand some of his toys-knows how to use the ring toy and has started being able to put shapes into his “shape box”, understands no-usually doesn’t follow his understanding but will test us to see if we’re looking while he attempts to chew on cords, etc.

Eating: Lennon likes most foods that we put in front of him, but his favorites are bananas, carrots and pasta. We’re struggling a bit with meat so I’m trying to incorporate more into his diet. He eats 2 solid meals a day during the week, then 3 on the weekends since we have time to cook up breakfast. He’ll usually have a couple snacks at daycare and takes in about 20 ounces of formula throughout the day. He’ll start whole milk in a month so we’re trying to slowly wean out his bedtime bottle.

Sleeping: We went through a little set-back in the sleep department this month. There were a couple weeks where Lennon was getting up once, sometimes twice a night. We didn’t offer him a bottle and he simply wanted to be cuddled. Maybe it was his walking milestone that threw him off…who knows. For the past week or so he’s been back to sleeping through the night & has even “slept in” a few mornings. He goes down around 7:00 and gets up around 6:00. He’s taking one long nap at daycare these days and we usually give him two on the weekends.

Other things to note: It has been cold and we are all getting stir crazy. I saw this morning that we’ve had 16 days in a row where it’s below zero when we wake up. I’m looking forward to even a slight warm-up so Lennon can get outside. He has moved into the older infant room at daycare and he loves it. He likes being around older kids and snack time is a big hit with him. He’s also napping better in this room…thank God. Lennon has grown to love swimming lessons. He splashes, kicks and doesn’t really mind being dunked underwater. We will have a one year old in a month and that completely blows my mind. He’s been so much fun this past month. We miss him terribly when he’s at daycare during the week.

Happy 11 months sweet boy!
